Tennessee Native American Convention    
to democratically elect representatives from the Native American community to represent Native American interests in and to the State of Tennessee.

The requirement of 21 voter-registered signatures is a form of a nominating petition
which indicates (a) the seriousness of an applicant's intentions, (b) a minimum of political support,
(c) the applicant's ability to manage a simple political task, and (d) commitment to represent not only
his/her own local area but the concerns of the larger Native American Indian community as well.

To apply to participate in the TNNAC election process, applicants need to
1. fill out an application or plain text - and
2. obtain at least 21 signatures of registered voters in the Grand Division:
     a. at least 11 signatories must be from inside the nominee's own caucus area
     b. at least 10 signatories must be from outside the nominee's own caucus area
          but still within the Grand Division.

3. Make a copy of your application and of all signature sheets for your records.

4. Send application and supporting signatures to TNNAC Secretary Lynn Clayton,
     354 Lowrey Road, Medon TN 38356, by saturday, 28 may 2005.

Remember :

  • all signatories must live within candidate's Grand Division
  • signatories must be currently registered voters
  • signatories must supply his/her residence address as it appears on
    his or her voter registration records
  • signatures must be recognizable, signers must be registered voters
    and living at the address on their registration
  • TNNAC signatory forms are available for download in pdf format
  • applicants should obtain at least 30 signatures in case any signatories
    are disqualified
  • signatories will be verified by TNNAC with counties' Election Commissions
