Statement
------------------------------------------------------
I've been involved in the Tennessee Indian Community in many ways over the last two and a half years and I've seen The TN Native American Convention grow as more and more good people become involved. It is this experience that I can bring along with being accessible and willing to listen. I've been a member of the Advisory Council for the Knoxville Caucus for two years. I feel I could better represent East TN as a whole rather than the Knoxville Metro area from which I am geographically removed.
Whomever fills the Commission seats need to remember that they are there because their time and talents are needed by ALL of the Indian Community. If someone seeks the position to further their careers or the interests of a few groups then they should look for a position elsewhere. The People of this State deserve someone who will work to find solutions to the issues that have been largely ignored in the past. Issues such as affordable, local health care and more awareness by the caregivers of our physical and Spiritual needs. Issues such as grave desecration and looting. Whomever fills the Commission seats also need to remember that communication in the NDN Community is a MAJOR problem and ways need to be explored to be better able to communicate with constituents and to remember that communication implies TWO-WAY dialog. Whomever fills the Commisson seats need to remember that most conflicts can be resolved with diplomacy and tact and should have both in abundance along with patience and understanding while simultaniously remembering that there will be conflicts where diplomacy and tact are of no use and be willing to act accordingly to do what is right and just.
